Raised near the beaches of Rhode Island and now a seriously kick-ass workout aficionado, Aly came to the design business with long-time friend Bets when they opened Nest Inspired Home boutique in Rye, NY in 2011. After graduating from Brown University with a degree in History and playing on their D-1, Ivy League Championship softball team, Aly taught school and coached sports. It was then back to NYC for positions in sales, marketing and new product development for Maidenform while she completed her MBA from NYU. With the birth of her second child, Aly took time off to raise her two daughters and son, becoming active in the community as a volunteer. She eventually joined the Westchester Children’s Museum board where she met Bets and all this began. A classic at heart, Aly’s transitional design evolution was clear when she recently topped her antique Oriental rug with a custom Lucite coffee table and fluffy white Mongolian wool benches. When not working, Aly loves traveling with her husband and three children to beaches around the world and cheering on her kids at competitive swim meets and basketball games.
At the age of six, Bets dreamed of being an architect, but an early aptitude test and lack of free-hand drawing ability suggested otherwise. If only she knew back then about interior design. After a college career at SMU playing viola and a Masters degree in Communications from Boston University, Bets turned corporate, working for over a decade for Mattel Toys, GTE/Verizon and PepsiCo handing communications, marketing and events. The birth of her first of three kids brought her home where she volunteered extensively for the Westchester Children’s Museum and started a life-long friendship with Aly Drew. Together with neighbor and friend Wendy Wallis Williams, they opened Nest Inspired Home in 2011 and had a crash course in the trade they had long loved from afar. If she’s not at Nest, you can likely find Bets at her kids’ hockey, tennis or soccer games, watching Michigan football or trying to score tickets to see The Killers. Her greatest joy is spending time with her husband, kids and three dogs, designing for clients and her own 1926 Tudor, and scouring the country for cool vintage finds and great contemporary art to share with you.
